When the doors of the lift crank open, the only thing Thomas can remember is his first name. But he's not alone. He's surrounded by boys who welcome him to the Glade, an encampment at the centre of a bizarre and terrible maze.
Like Thomas, the Gladers don't know why or how they came to be there, or what's happened to the world outside. All they know is that every morning when the walls slide back, they will risk everything to find out - even the Grievers, half - machine, half - animal horrors that hunt the Maze's walled corridors.

I found it very hard to get into this book. I think the first 100 or so pages could have been condensed.
Aside from Thomas, all the characters were 1 dimensional. The plot was slow and only progressed when Thomas remembered something.
As the book went on I slowly got into it and flew through the middle portion of the book. The ending especially the epilogue leaves alot of questions that will continue in The Scorch Trials which I think I won't be reading any time soon.
This novel creates a scenario so thrilling, it leaves its participants on their toes. And the adventures begin with the first sentence.
