Well, that's an honest answer ;) Perhaps you should try online bookclubs, where there's flexibility in readings; or one where you don't all read the same book, but just discuss what you've read lately. In the end, groups aren't for everyone, and that's OK.
Well...that's true. I skipped one meeting because I couldn't get past the first chapter of the book that was picked. I was really annoyed because I hadn't time to get it out of the library and had downloaded it to my ipad- so now I own the book I really dislike. And I can't even give it away! But other than that glaring example, some of the books I wasn't enthusiastic about didn't turn out to be all that bad. And it's fun to talk about what we thought was good and not so good about the books.
I don't belong to any group that tells me what to read either. I just graduated from college in December and I am done being told what to read for a while LOL
Such a simple answer but I love it! I used to be like that but than I found myself hooked to all these different online challenges. The only one that I did have troubles doing were F2F book clubs; I didn't like the books that were picked and I hated being told to read these books.
That find, I am not in myself.

ReplyDeleteHere's mine
:) Sweet and to the point. Good for you.
ReplyDeleteIt is difficult to have to read something you really don't want to. I just don't read it the month I don't like the book. :)
Stopping by from the blog hop.

ReplyDeleteThat's a good point. I do have to say it is fun to read with other people when the book is something you want to read.
